Overview

The Chandrabadni Devi Temple is a Hindu shrine, located in a tiny hamlet called Jamnikhal in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. Chandrabadni Temple is a one of the Shakti Peeths and holy shrine of Goddess Sati. Chandrabadni Temple is located on the place where torso of Goddess Sati fell while Lord Shiva was taking away her burned body. Her weapons were also scattered over the place.

Chandrabadni Temple is lcoated at 33 km from Devprayag and 45 kms from Srinagar. One can reach from both places i.e from Devprayag via Hindolakhal and from Srinagar via Lachmoli - Hisriyakhal. A small 1 km trek is to be done to reach Chandrabadni Temple from taxi stand. One can hire taxi to reach Chandrabadni Temple from Devprayag and Srinagar.

By Rail

Nearest rail connectivity is available at Dehradun 145 kms or Rishikesh railway station 103 kms.

Chandrabadani is a mountain on the border of tahsil Devaprayag and Pratapnagar is the well known temple of Chandrabadni Devi, lying at the top of the mountain about 10 km. north of Kandi Khal. The temple looms at a height of 2253 meters above sea level on Chandrabadni Mountain and is one of the renowned Sakti Peeth of Garhwal.  This holy shrine is devoted to Goddess Sati and it is said that Sati Devi torso fell at this same place.

Devprayag is a town and a nagar panchayat in Tehri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand, India, and is one of the Panch Prayag of Alaknanda River where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet and take the name Ganga or Ganges River. Devprayag is located at an elevation of 472mts above sea level at the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi River. It is located 64kms from Tehri Garhwal.

The shrine of Rama was shattered by an earthquake in 1803 but was subsequently repaired by Daulat Rao Scindia.
