The main attraction of Gopeshwar is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. Hundreds and thousands of devotees come here to seek blessings and offer prayers to the Lord. Gopeshwar is surrounded by four famous temples of Tunganath, Anusuya Devi, Rudranath and Badrinath. By Bus

Gopeshwar is well connected by motorable roads with major destinations of Uttarakhand state and buses and Taxis to Gopeshwar are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand state like Rishikesh, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Ukhimath, Srinagar, Joshimath, etc. Buses to Rishikesh and Srinagar are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Delhi. Gopeshwar is situated on the road connecting NH-119 and NH-58.

Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport to Gopeshwar situated at a distance of 225 kms and is well connected to Delhi with daily flights. Gopeshwar is well connected by motorable roads with Jolly Grant Airport and taxis are easily available from the Airport to Gopeshwar.

By Rail

The nearest railway station to Gopeshwar is Rishikesh which is situated some 205 kms before Gopeshwar on NH-58. One of the most famous pilgrim places in Chamoli is the Anusuya Devi Temple, dedicated to goddess Sati. She was the wife of Atri Muni, a great sage and one of the Sapta Rishis (Sapta means seven and rishis mean sages in Sanskrit). It is said that Devi Anusuya fully dedicated to her husband. It is located 30 kms away from Chopta. It is located in the lap of Himalayas which attracts the pilgrims.

The Gopinath temple was built by Raja Saggar. The residing deity of this sacred temple is Lord Shiva. According to mythology, a cow used to give milk on the Shiva Lingam every day at this place. When the king saw the cow performing this activity, he decided to construct a temple at this place and since then this temple has become popular.
