By Bus

Harsil is well connected by motorable roads with major destinations of Uttarakhand state. Harsil is situated on NH-108 which connects Gangotri in Uttarkashi district. Buses to Rishikesh, Tehri, and Uttarkashi are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Delhi. Buses and Taxis to Harsil are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand state like Rishikesh, Dehradun, Tehri, Barkot, Uttarkashi, etc.

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport to Harsil situated at a distance of 232 kms and is well connected to Delhi with daily flights. It is connected by motorable roads with Jolly Grant Airport and Taxis are available from Jolly Grant Airport to Uttarkashi, Tehri, and Harsil.

By Rail

The nearest railway station to Harsil is Rishikesh. Rishikesh railway station is situated 215 kms before Harsil on NH-58. Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India and trains to Rishikesh are frequent. Taxis and buses are available from Rishikesh to Tehri Garhwal, Uttarkashi, and Harsil.

Dharali is an exquisite hamlet situated at a distance of 3kms from Harsil. Dharali can be easily approached through motorable roads. Dharali is a picturesque hamlet nestled on the tranquil banks of river Ganges. This village is perched at an altitude of 648 metres above sea level and lies in Rajgarhi tehsil or block.  The fairy tale hamlet of Dharali is located at a favorable distance of 3 km from the main town. Dharali is famous for its glittering apple orchards & Rajma cultivation.

Gangotri Temple

Gangotri is the highest temple of Goddess Ganga and one of the four dhams of Uttarakhand state. Gangotri is situated at an altitude of 3,048mts above sea level. Gangotri offers scenic splendors of rugged terrains, gushing water of Bhagirathi River and snow clad peaks. The place holds great importance amongst Hindus. Gangotri remains opened from May and get closed on the day of Diwali festival.

A historic, cliff-side wooden bridge in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district, a restored section of an ancient Indo-Tibet trade route used by the Bhotiya tribe for bartering goods like wool for salt and sugar before closing in 1962; it's now a popular adventure spot for trekking to Nelong Valley, offering stunning views and a thrilling walk along the Jadh Ganga River after a 2.5 km hike.

Mukhwa village is situated only 1km from Harsil. Mukhwa is the home of Goddess Gangotri during winters because Gangotri region is prone to heavy snowfall during winters. Devotees worship at Mukhwa village during winters when the doors of the Gangotri temple remains closed. This place is popular due to the fact that the idol of Goddess Ganga is brought down to Mukhba from the shrine of Gangotri in the Upper Himalayas and kept here throughout the winters as Gangotri becomes inaccessible due to heavy Snowfall.
