The lake is located at an altitude of 4,150 mts above sea level surrounded by Himalayan peaks. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Vishnu bathed in this lake at the auspicious Raksha Bandhan festival. Hence, it was named as Vasuki Tal.
