Buses to Rishikesh and Srinagar are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate and buses and Taxis to Chamoli are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand state like Rishikesh PauriUttarkashi Rudraprayag Ukhimath Srinagar Gopeshwar etc. Chamoli is situated NH-58 making it easy to access.

The nearest railway station to Chamoli is Rishikesh. Rishikesh railway station is situated 202 kms before Chamoli on NH-58. Auli is a ski destination in Chamoli district in the Himalayan mountain of Uttarakhand. Auli is also known as Auli Bugyal in Garhwali, which means “meadow”. It is located at an elevation of 2,500 meters (8,200 ft) to 3,050 meters (10,010 ft) above sea level. Auli can be reached by road or ropeway from Joshimath. It provides an excellent panoramic view of the giant mountain peaks like Nanda Devi, Kamet and Dunagiri.

Chopta is a small region of meadows and evergreen forest area which is a part of kedarnath wildlife sanctuary located in Uttarakhand state, India and a base for trekking to Tungnath, third temple of Panch Kedar, which lies 3.5 kilometres away. Chopta is a picturesque hamlet which is still unexplored by travelers, is also famous as "Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand". Wake up with cool salubrious breeze and chirping of birds in Chopta which is a far cry from the blaring horns of the cities.

Gopeshwar

The main attraction of Gopeshwar is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. Hundreds and thousands of devotees come here to seek blessings and offer prayers to the Lord. Gopeshwar is surrounded by four famous temples of Tunganath, Anusuya Devi, Rudranath and Badrinath. Other interesting places of interest in Gopeshwar are the Vaitarni Kund, a group of temples without idols and Oak view.

The Gopinath temple was built by Raja Saggar. The residing deity of this sacred temple is Lord Shiva. According to mythology, a cow used to give milk on the Shiva Lingam every day at this place. When the king saw the cow performing this activity, he decided to construct a temple at this place and since then this temple has become popular.

Govindghat is a vital pilgrimage and trekking base in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, nestled at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Lakshman Ganga rivers, serving as the starting point for treks to Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers, known for its Sikh Gurudwara, pleasant climate from May-October, and stunning Himalayan scenery.

Joshimath is one of the four ‘math’ created by Adi Shankaracharya. Joshimath is the home of Shri Badrinath during winters. Joshimath is connected with Auli by highest cable car of Asia. Joshimath is situated at an elevation of 1,890 mts above sea level. Do visit Kalpavriksha and Narsingh temple while a visit to Joshimath. It is situated 14 kms from Joshimath.

Kalpeshwar Temple is a sacred Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the serene Urgam Valley of Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. It is one of the five Panch Kedar temples and the only one that remains accessible throughout the year. At Kalpeshwar, Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of his matted hair (Jata). Surrounded by dense forests and mountains, the temple offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. Devotees visit this temple to seek blessings and inner peace amidst nature.

Pipalkoti is a small and scenic town situated at an elevation of 1,260 meters above sea level. It is located 17 kms after Chamoli on NH-58. Pipalkoti acts a relaxation point for people traveling to Badrinath, Auli, Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers. Nestled amidst lush green mountains and terraced fields, Pipalkoti provides delightful views of the snow-clad mountains and green hills all around.

Rudraprayag is one of the Panch Prayag of Alaknanda River, the point of confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini.  An ancient shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of 'Rudra'. Rudraprayag is of immense significance for the pilgrims of Char Dham Yatra, as it is the junction for visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham.

Hemkund Sahib is the highest Gurudwara of the Sikhs, located at an altitude of 4329 mts in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This holy shrine got its name from the glacial lake Hemkund, adjacent to the Gurudwara whose literal meaning is the ‘Lake of Snow’.  This pilgrimage place of Sikhs is dedicated to the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (1666-1708) and also finds its mention in Dasam Grant, a work dedicated to Guru Ji himself.
