It houses a protected patch of small forest containing Deodar Trees. There is an entry fee of Rs 15 for Adults and Rs 10 for Children. Mussoorie Forest Department is running Eco-huts for the tourists come to enjoy serene landscapes of Dhanaulti.
Kaudia Forest is a very nice picnic spot and popular for hiking in Kanatal. A level walk of 6 kms will show dense forests opening into a vast expanse of undulating hills and valleys. Many natural springs can be seen during the trek. Kakar (the barking deer), Wild Boar Ghorals and musk deer can be seen in Kodia Jungle. It is an ideal place for bird watching and nature’s photography. The track is jeepable and do carry lunch with you.
A modern town and headquarter of the Tehri-Garhwal district, New Tehri is an adventure tourism hub. Overlooking the massive Tehri Lake and dam, the well-planned town draws tourists, who come here for its natural beauty and the opportunity to enjoy innumerable water sports in the lake. The dam is the highest of its kind in India and is regarded among the world's largest hydroelectric projects. It stands on the Bhagirathi river.
The Surkanda peak lying at an altitude of 2,750 m. in the western part of tehsil Tehri, and is famous for the temple of Surkanda Devi. It is about 8 km. from Dhanolti on the motor road running from Mussoorie to Chamba and is connected with Narendra Nagar which is about 61 km. and with Tehri which is about 41 km. by motor roads.
Since its creation, Tehri Lake has become a popular boating destination among tourists and travelers who are looking for peace and quiet amidst the nature. Being at a close proximity to Delhi and NCR regions, it has also become an ideal weekend getaway destination.
