Overview

Madhyamaheshwar or Madmaheshwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to god Shiva, located in the Mansoona village of Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand, India. The middle (Madhya) or navel of the bull, considered a divine form of Shiva, is worshiped at this temple. Bhima, the second Pandava brother is believed to have built this temple and worshiped Shiva here. To the right of the main temple, there is a small temple where the marble image of Saraswati is installed in the sanctum.

By Bus

You can take direct bus to Ukhimath from Delhi/ Haridwar / Rishikesh / Dehradun, buses from Haridwar and Rishikesh ply early morning and are more frequent as compared from Dehradun and Delhi.

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport located in Dehradun is the closest airport to Madhmaheshwar located at a distance of 235 kms . It is connected to all major parts of the country with daily flights. Taxis are easily available from the airport to Ukhimath from where you can take a further taxi till Ransi Village

By Rail

The nearest railway station to Ukhimath is the Haridwar railway station located at a distance of 202 kms from Ukhimath. You can hire a taxi or even get a bus from Rishikesh to Ukhimath. Haridwar well connected to major parts of the country by the Indian railway network.

One of the most famous pilgrim places in Chamoli is the Anusuya Devi Temple, dedicated to goddess Sati. She was the wife of Atri Muni, a great sage and one of the Sapta Rishis (Sapta means seven and rishis mean sages in Sanskrit). It is said that Devi Anusuya fully dedicated to her husband. It is located 30 kms away from Chopta. It is located in the lap of Himalayas which attracts the pilgrims.

Budha Madhyamaheshwar

Situated 2 km from Madhyamaheshwar, this holy shrine is a cluster of rocks. However, the journey to this place is quite captivating as picturesque views of various peaks can be seen from here such as Kedarnath, Neelkanth, Trishul, Kamet and Panchachuli over a small lake. The Budha Madmaheshwar is a hill temple which is visited by many devotees from distant places.

Kalimath

Kalimath is a village which is regarded as a divine place and shakti peeth. It lies at an altitude of around 6,000 feet (1,800 m) on the river Saraswati in the Himalayas, surrounded by the peaks of Kedarnath in Rudraprayag District of Uttarakhand, India. Kalimath is situated close to Ukhimath, and Guptakashi. Kalimath lies on lap of nature offering salubrious and divine environment. Goddess Kali Temple is located in Kalimath.

Kanchani Tal

Kanchani tal is 16 km away from Madhyamaheshwar, which can be reached by trekking only. The trek is strenous, difficulty level wise and one has to be physically and mentally prepared to take on the journey. The trek to Kanchani Tal commences from Kanchani Khal located behind the temple. The trek takes approximately 8 hours or more to reach at the lake.

This kund has mythological relevance as it is believed that a corroded sword seen near the lake belongs to Pandavas. Nandikund is also popular as during summers, the water is found extremely cold.

Rudranath is the highly revered temple of Lord Shiva is peacefully adorned in the Garhwal Himalayas. It is the fourth temple to visit in the circuit of Panch Kedar pilgrimage. The celestial temple is snuggled inside the rhododendron forests and the alpine meadows. The exhilarating trek to Rudranath temple can be either commenced from Sagar village, Helang or Urgam village.

Triyuginarayan is a well-known Hindu pilgrimage located in the Rudraprayag district. This picturesque village is perched at an elevation of 1,980 and offers panoramic views of snow covered mountains of the beauteous Garhwal region. The architecture of this temple resembles to that of Badrinath shrine. Triyugi Narayan is the village where the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place.
