The Surkanda peak lying at an altitude of 2,750 m. in the western part of tehsil Tehri, and is famous for the temple of Surkanda Devi. It is about 8 km. from Dhanolti on the motor road running from Mussoorie to Chamba and is connected with Narendra Nagar which is about 61 km. and with Tehri which is about 41 km. by motor roads.
Since its creation, Tehri Lake has become a popular boating destination among tourists and travelers who are looking for peace and quiet amidst the nature. Being at a close proximity to Delhi and NCR regions, it has also become an ideal weekend getaway destination.
